Legal Assistant – Litigation and Trials
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience as a legal assistant in a litigation environment.
- Familiarity with civil litigation before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
- In-office role (Toronto). Flexibility as to work hours in terms of number of hours per week, as well start and end times.
- Office systems include Apple computers, Apple Mail, MS Word, Adobe and Clio.
Role and Responsibilities
- Reception – telephone and greeting visitors.
- Scheduling – phone calls, video conferences, Court dates.
- Dictation – correspondence and Court forms.
- Document management – receiving, scanning as needed, renaming and organizing a large quantity of documents. Assembling pdf files using Adobe.
- Serving and filing documents. Drafting affidavits of service and familiarity with Justice Services Online and Case Center an asset.
- Office management – ensuring the smooth functioning of the office as required.
- Accounts receivable – docketing and invoicing clients. Knowledge of Clio an asset.
- Accounts payable – paying all office-related expenses. Knowledge of Xero an asset.
- Assisting Law Clerk – for example with trial preparation and trial support as required. Trial-related training available.

Law Clerk – Litigation and Trials
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years experience as a law clerk in civil litigation matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
- Sound knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and Ontario Superior Court of Justice civil Court forms.
- In-office role (Toronto or Collingwood). Flexibility as to work hours in terms of number of hours per week, as well start and end times.
- Office systems include Apple computers, Apple Mail, MS Word, Adobe and Clio.
Role and Responsibilities
- Docketing. Knowledge of Clio an asset.
- Dictation – correspondence and Court forms.
- Serving and filing documents. Drafting affidavits of service and familiarity with Justice Services Online and Case Center an asset.
- Drafting litigation- related Court forms: pleadings, affidavits of documents, notices of examination, motion records, orders, mediation briefs and case conference briefs.
- Drafting trial-related Court forms: trial records, certification forms to set pre-trial and trial dates, pre-trial conference briefs, bills of costs, costs outlines, judgments.
- Trial preparation: witness management, document management and management of trial outlines. Trial-related training available.
- Trial support as required.
